Biographical note
Dr. Michael R. Ferrari served as TCU's ninth chancellor from July 1998 through May 2003. He held the faculty rank as Professor of Management at TCU and was cited for his efforts to involve the Fort Worth community in the life of the University through the TCU Commission on the Future. His academic research was focused on strategic planning in higher education, computing and information technology, institutional renewal and revitalization, and academic-industry economic development partnerships. Ferrari received his education at Michigan State University, holding bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology and a doctorate in business administration. He taught management and served as chair of the Management Department at Kent State University. He went on to serve as Provost and Executive Vice President, and later Interim President of Bowling Green State Univeristy, Provost at Wright State University and President of Drake University, before becoming TCU's Chancellor. Ferrari is now retired, but maintains an active interest in TCU.
