Subject files, ephemera, and published material document the research interests of Robert Ross, a specialist in Australian literature. The collection contains mostly books by Australian authors and about Australia. Ross founded the literary journal Antipodes, and the collection contains a full run of the publication. The collection also contains research files on Australian author Thea Astley.

The collection is arranged alphabetically by subject and in two series. The first series is records, the second series in audiovisual: audiotapes, photos, slides.
