Library Manuscript Collection
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of letters and documents dating from 1696 though 1983 collected by TCU library staff. Many of the letters were written by notable public figures, politicians, authors, and educators. Of note are letters written by Stephen F. Austin, Pearl Buck, Mary Couts Burnett, Alexander Campbell, T.S. Eliot, Tom Conally, John Nance Garner, John F. Kennedy, and Nelson Rockefeller among others. The collection also contains two documents related to colonial Mexico written by Baltasar de Zuniga in 1734 and Juan Ortega y Montanes, an archbishop of Mexico, written in 1696.
