Biographical / Historical

Melvin Diggs was born in 1914 in Fannin County and attended Weslaco High School. Diggs played football at TCU, where he graduated in 1936. Diggs earned a law degree from Georgetown Law School and passed the bar in 1944. He received the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Service, the highest award of the Department of Justice in December 1968 in recognition of his outstanding service as the court-appointed U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas. He died in 1997 in Fort Worth. His daughter Susan Diggs White graduated in 1992 from TCU.
