Series II. Astronomy, 1878; 1918-1967, 1878

The collection includes correspondence, booklets, articles, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, catalogues, tax receipts, leases, advertisement flyers, brochures, and minutes from the Monnig Dry Goods Company. The photographs of the building, located in news clippings, dated from 1912-1962 provided the best documentation to illustrate the various stages of growth and change of the building interior and exterior. Most of the correspondence and legal documents are dated from the late 1920s through the 1950s, during William Monnig's presidency. Of note is a letter from Billy Rose, dated 1936.

The second series of the collection includes articles, newspaper clippings, and publications about astronomy, reflecting Oscar Monnig's strong interest in this area.
