The series includes correspondence, mainly personal, to and from Grace Halsell, and is arranged alphabetically by name or by subject. The bulk of the correspondence is family letters, which are the highlight of this series because of their personal nature. Notable names of correspondents include George H. Bush, Barry Goldwater, John Howard Griffin, Alex Haley, Conrad Hilton, Lady Bird Johnson, Dan Rather, and Jim Wright. Most of the correspondence, other than family, business, and fan letters, are letters to and from Grace’s friends and acquaintances. This correspondence reveals the wide array of friendships Grace developed and maintained throughout her lifetime.
