Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

Postcards, photographs, menus and other ephemera collected by Helen Spurck Walts during her travels around the world. Postcards, many of them blank, are views of Italy and North Africa. The photographs are buildings and monuments from Washington D.C. and the Northeastern United States. Snapshots document Mary Pickford and artist James Montgomery Flagg (artist who created iconic Uncle Sam “I Want YOU for the U.S. Army poster) promoting War Bonds in 1918. There are 45 menus from her travels, mostly on ocean liners. Also includes some prints by Clarence Holbrook Carter for Alcoa SS Lines. Also miscellaneous prints and brochures on Texas artists, foreign currency and a museum catalog of the Fort Worth Art Museum Chrysler Exhibit of 1962. Also of note is a passenger list from the “M. V. Britannic”, July 1937.
